‘Muntplein’
Amsterdam , July 2002
A busy intersection in the city circles part of the old city wall,
part of which is a 16th century bell tower and carillon instrument.
The two main traffic lights of the intersection were monitored and
the timing transferred to the bells of the Carillon. The notes played
were allocated at random. A case of a found score for a nearby instrument,
the use of another present form, white noise of the radio transmission,
was incorporated into the transferral. This was improvised in short
bursts, and amplified out the windows of the bell tower. Apprx.
